Welcome

Lehi, Lehi, What Do You See?

Sandra Meaders is the author of the new children’s book, Lehi, Lehi, What Do You See? The book is illustrated by Jeff Harvey.

This book is set up very much like the beloved children’s book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, but uses characters from The Book of Mormon instead of animals. Each thing the people see has a different color.

I read the book to my three boys. My 13-year-old liked the book and how it followed a similar format as Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? My 7-year-old felt the book would be perfect for his 2-year-old sister, and my five-year-old son said the book was awesome.

What I like about the book is the colorful pages, and the introduction to small children of key people in The Book of Mormon, as well as a little snippet of their story, the most important person being Jesus Himself. It can lead into a deeper discussion for families. The book is also sturdy, and a good size.

I also like how the author has a website where she offers activity page supplements for the book. There is a color game and two printable packets. Check them out at lehilehiwhatdoyousee.com.

Unlike my 13-year-old, I unfortunately did not like how the author used another person’s brilliant book idea and made it her own. The flow wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be either, though it was creative how she came up with the colored items to go with each person.

I also felt that the artwork should have shown a difference in color between the Nephites and Lamanites.

Other than those things, it is a cute and simple book, and great for little kids who wish to learn about The Book of Mormon heroes.
