I can’t believe Rigel is old enough to be in preschool now. He is, though, and he has been waiting for this day for a long time!
We feel so blessed where he is concerned. At first, he did not get into the preschool many of our friends’ kids did – the only preschool in Mebane we could afford. I had to research online for hours, and make tons of phone calls. Finally, I found a preschool in Graham that wasn’t that much more expensive. I liked it, and felt comfortable signing him up. Well, last week I got a call that Rigel got into the preschool we originally wanted him to attend (MUM’s). I didn’t know what to do. I had already committed to send him to GPC Playschool and I don’t like to go back on my word. I also wasn’t impressed by the lack of communication from Mum’s (my phone calls were never returned regarding waiting lists, etc).
I knew I needed to pray about it. After praying, I felt impressed that Rigel would be happy and well-taught at either school. That brought me peace, and I made arrangements for the switch. The director at GPC was very kind, and there are no hard feelings.
So, this morning, was Rigel’s first day of preschool. He was so excited. Last night was a little emotional for Jad and me, as we anticipated him going the next day. We felt love for our growing child. Jad gave him a father’s blessing, and it was a very special moment for all of us.
Rigel is now going to be away from me four hours at a time, three days a week. It will be an adjustment for me, but especially for Kamren, who is used to having his big brother around him all the time. Hopefully his melt downs will subside during drops off and picks up soon.
I can’t wait to see all that Rigel learns in school. Today, his favorite part was playing with Ninja Turtles, and probably the Dum Dum sucker waiting for him in his mailbox.
Here are pictures from his first day at Mum’s:
