When my daughter, Eve, turned 1 year old, I wrote a blog post just for her called “Why I Call You Princess.” Last year, I was reading it and thought it had the potential to be a great book, so I got busy writing.
I worked on it off and on for many months. I did a lot of research on classic princess fairy tales since I couldn’t use Disney princesses in a book. I looked for images to illustrate the book. I worked hard to tie all the points together. Then finally, I thought it was ready. I sent it to some friends and family to read, and I am so grateful for them taking the time to do so! Most of the feedback was very positive, but I also appreciated the constructive feedback. A couple of people told me they thought the book would be better as two books. I pondered a lot and then decided to do just that. I’m so grateful for those who have read the original book and the updated books and given me helpful feedback. It means the world to me.
The first book is called Why I Call You Princess and is best for ages 2-7. The second book is called Always My Princess and is best for ages 8-12. Here are the descriptions of each book:
Why I Call You Princess: A mother talks to her sweet little girl about why she calls her Princess. She tells her daughter about four classic fairy-tale princesses and what she can learn from them. There is an even more important reason why she calls her Princess, though, and that is because she is the daughter of a Heavenly King.
Always My Princess: A mother recognizes that her Princess is growing up. She gives her daughter words of wisdom and lessons from 7 fairy-tale princesses, including their good deeds and qualities, their trials, their faults, and their happy endings. She also reminds her daughter of her divinity and worth as Heavenly Father’s daughter.
Both books will be available for purchase on June 30th, 2025, as paperbacks. A hardcover book will also be available, and it will include both books. You can purchase the books here.
